JAMB FIXES FEBRUARY 26 DEADLINE FOR 2026 UTME REGISTRATION AS 1.5 MILLION CANDIDATES ENROL

JAMB has announced that the 2026 UTME registration will close February 26 with no extension, as over 1.5 million candidates have already registered nationwide.

Legitdan news report that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has confirmed that there will be no extension for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination registration deadline, urging all candidates to complete their enrolment before February 26, 2026.

The Board stated that the sale of e-PINs required for UTME registration will close at 12 midnight on Thursday, February 26, while registration at accredited Computer-Based Test centres for candidates who already purchased e-PINs will end on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

According to JAMB, more than 1.5 million candidates have already registered across the country as of February 17. However, the Board noted that registration centres are currently operating at only about 30 percent of their daily capacity despite having the ability to register up to 100,000 candidates per day nationwide.

JAMB emphasised that the UTME timetable is part of a coordinated national examination calendar, making it impossible to extend the deadline. Candidates who fail to register before the closing date will not be considered for the examination.

The Board warned prospective candidates against last-minute registration to avoid technical challenges or delays, stressing that appeals will not be entertained once the deadline passes.

JAMB therefore advised all candidates to immediately obtain their e-PINs and complete registration at accredited CBT centres to avoid missing the opportunity to sit for the 2026 UTME.
