FUTA PROFESSOR ADVOCATES DATA DRIVEN SOLUTIONS FOR NIGERIA ECONOMY
A professor at the Federal University of Technology Akure has said modern statistical techniques can improve healthcare, banking, and the economy. He spoke during the university 198th inaugural lecture.
Legitdan news report that a Professor of Statistics at the Federal University of Technology Akure, Professor Abayomi Akomolafe, has stated that the use of modern statistical techniques, predictive analysis, and probability modelling can significantly strengthen Nigeria healthcare system, banking sector, and overall economy.
He made the statement while delivering the 198th inaugural lecture titled Clay in the Hand of the Potter The Mystery of Probability Modelling in Statistics at the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
According to him, data driven decision making can help solve challenges such as disease outbreaks, inflation, market instability, and inefficiencies in service delivery.
He explained that statistical models are important for improving healthcare planning, enhancing banking operations, guiding economic policies, and supporting sustainable national development.
