DELTA GOVERNOR CALLS FOR CURRICULUM REVIEW AT DELSU CONVOCATION

Delta State Governor has called for reforms in Nigeria academic curriculum. The appeal was made during the convocation ceremony of Delta State University.

Legitdan news report that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has called for a review of Nigeria academic curriculum to make it more relevant to present day needs.

He made the call during the 18th convocation ceremony of Delta State University Abraka, where more than 7000 students graduated across first degree, diploma, affiliate, and postgraduate programmes. The governor was represented at the event by his deputy.

He emphasized the importance of including entrepreneurship, digital skills, vocational training, and problem solving abilities in the education system so that graduates can become job creators.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Samuel Asagba, highlighted the institution achievements, including its ranking among leading state universities in Nigeria and strong national performance.

He also stressed the need for universities to adopt modern technologies such as artificial intelligence and improve facilities to prepare students for global competition.

Other speakers at the ceremony called for increased investment in tertiary education to strengthen infrastructure and research. The event also featured honorary doctorate awards and recognition of a retired professor for contributions to academia.
