NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT CONDEMNS KIDNAP OF ST. MARY’S STUDENTS
Legitdan News reports that the Niger State Government has condemned the kidnapping of students from St. Mary’s Private Catholic Secondary School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area.
A statement from the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Usman, says the state has opened a full investigation. Search and rescue teams are already moving across the surrounding areas to bring back the abducted children. Security agencies are sharing information and coordinating actions from different points.
The government explained that it had earlier ordered the suspension of construction activities and the closure of boarding schools in the affected zone because of strong security threats. According to the statement, St. Mary’s School reopened without official approval. This exposed students and staff to danger.
Officials say they will continue to release verified updates as operations progress. The government also appealed to residents to share any useful information that can support the rescue mission.
The state says protecting children and restoring peace in the threatened communities is a priority.
