OAU STUDENTS GO ON THREE WEEK MID SEMESTER BREAK
Obafemi Awolowo University has directed students to observe a three week mid semester break. The decision follows protests over welfare and transport issues.
Legitdan news report that the management of Obafemi Awolowo University has directed students to proceed on a three week mid semester break following demonstrations on campus.
The decision, communicated by the university Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olarewaju, was approved by the University Senate after protests escalated, including obstruction of major roads and harassment of road users.
The university stated that the break is necessary to ensure the safety of both the campus community and the public. It will also allow time for dialogue with stakeholders and the restoration of normal academic activities.
The protest, organised by the Students Union, was prompted by concerns about transportation, accommodation, and disruptions related to the ongoing e portal upgrade.
