FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND MEDICAL SCIENCES, ABEOKUTA [FUMMSA] ANNOUNCES 2026/2027 ADMISSION ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA, SETS MINIMUM UTME SCORE OF 200
Candidates must score a minimum of 200 in the 2026 UTME and select FUMMSA as their first-choice institution. The Post-UTME screening fee is N2,000, with an additional N4,000 portal access fee payable via Remita.
Legitdan News reports that the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta (FUMMSA) has officially released its eligibility criteria and admission requirements for the 2026/2027 academic session. The announcement, signed by the Registrar, outlines the minimum qualifications candidates must meet before applying for the Post-UTME Screening Exercise.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates seeking admission into FUMMSA for the 2026/2027 academic session must satisfy all of the following requirements:
- Must have scored a minimum of 200 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by JAMB
- Must have selected FUMMSA as their first-choice institution on JAMB
- Must be at least 16 years old on or before September 30, 2026
- Must possess a minimum of five O’Level credit passes in the following relevant subjects: Biology, Chemistry, English Language, Mathematics, and Physics
- Candidates seeking admission into Medicine and Surgery, Nursing Science, Pharmacy, Dental Surgery, Optometry, and Physiotherapy must obtain credit passes in all five relevant O’Level subjects in one sitting only. Two sittings are not acceptable for these programmes
- For all other programmes, O’Level results obtained in a maximum of two sittings are acceptable
- Only results from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) will be accepted. Results from other examination bodies will not be recognized
Post-UTME Screening Exercise
Candidates who satisfy the above eligibility criteria are qualified to apply and register for the FUMMSA Post-UTME Screening Exercise. The university has stated that the commencement date for registration and application will be announced shortly. Candidates are advised to regularly visit the official FUMMSA website for updates and important announcements regarding the exercise.
Application Fees
The following fees apply to all candidates participating in the Post-UTME Screening Exercise:

Screening and Aggregate Score Computation
The Post-UTME Screening Exercise at FUMMSA operates on a 100-point grading system. The aggregate score for each candidate is computed as follows:
- 50 percent of UTME Score
- 50 percent of O’Level Results Score
- Total Maximum Score: 100 points
Admission cut-off points for all programmes will be determined based on candidates’ computed aggregate scores. Candidates with higher aggregate scores will have stronger chances of securing admission into their preferred programmes.
Anti-Fraud Warning
FUMMSA has issued a strong warning to all prospective candidates regarding fraudulent activities. The university has stated the following:
- All information, transactions, and payments must be conducted exclusively on the official university portal
- No payments should be made to any private account under any circumstances
- The university has not appointed any agents or representatives. Any individual claiming to represent FUMMSA in matters relating to admission is acting fraudulently
- Candidates are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities
