WAEC RELEASES 2025 GCE 2ND SERIES RESULTS, PASSES DROP TO 42.17 PERCENT
Legitdan News reports that the West African Examinations Council has officially released the results for the 2025 Second Series Computer Based WASSCE for Private Candidates.
Performance Overview:
• 42.17 percent obtained five credits including English Language and Mathematics
• This is a drop from 53.64 percent recorded in 2024
• In 2023, the figure stood at 44.29 percent
• The 2025 result reflects an 11.47 percentage point decrease from 2024
According to Moyosola Adesina, Head of Public Affairs, the performance shows a significant decline when compared to last year.
Breakdown of Statistics:
• 69,604 candidates registered, representing a 1.8 percent increase from 2024
• 65,752 candidates sat for the examination across 370 centres nationwide
• 27,727 candidates, 42.17 percent, secured five credits including English and Mathematics
• 33,989 candidates, 51.69 percent, obtained five credits with or without English and Mathematics
• 61,943 candidates, 94.21 percent, have had their results fully processed and released
WAEC stated that results of private candidates should not be directly compared with those of school candidates, as private candidates operate outside the formal school system.
