NIGERIAN SCHOLAR WINS GRADUATE RESEARCH EXCELLENCE AWARD IN USA
Kefas Lamak has emerged as the first African to win the 2025 Graduate Research Excellence Award at the University of Iowa. He achieved the feat as a doctoral candidate.
Legitdan news report that Kefas Lamak, a scholar from Langtang in Plateau State, has become the first African to win the 2025 Graduate Research Excellence Award at the University of Iowa.
Lamak, a doctoral candidate, received the award as an All But Dissertation student after outperforming over 150 African students at the institution.
The award was presented by Lois Geist, Interim Vice President of Research at the university, in recognition of his academic performance and research contributions.
Speaking on the achievement, Lamak described the recognition as a reflection of his commitment to interdisciplinary and historical research, noting that it motivates him to contribute further to knowledge development.
His achievement has been described as a significant milestone for Plateau State, Nigeria, and Africa.
