JAMB UNCOVERS AI RELATED UTME REGISTRATION FRAUD
Is-haq Oloyede said suspects used artificial intelligence tools to help underage candidates register. Several arrests have been made and affected registrations may be cancelled.
Legitdan news report that the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Is ha q Oloyede announced the discovery of a syndicate that used artificial intelligence tools to bypass UTME registration rules for underage candidates.
He said about 38000 underage candidates were registered and nearly 100 have been linked to the fraud. Several suspects have been arrested and the board has asked the Minister of Education Tunji Alausa to cancel the affected registrations.
Oloyede also stated that some school owners and JAMB officials were involved in the case. A staff member of Ahmadu Bello University is facing prosecution over the matter.
The board said it is taking steps to protect the credibility of the examination system and will ensure that those found guilty are punished according to the law.
