NOUN MATRICULATES 23,344 STUDENTS ACROSS ALL PROGRAMMES
Legitdan News reports that the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has matriculated 23,344 students across its undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programmes during its 27th Matriculation Ceremony on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters, emphasized the transformative power of Open and Distance Learning (ODL), stating it is the future of education globally. He highlighted NOUN’s commitment to providing flexible, quality education accessible to all Nigerians, irrespective of age or location.
Peters also outlined that out of the 23,344 new students, 18,106 enrolled in undergraduate programmes, 5,196 in postgraduate programmes, while 10 students joined the MPhil programme and 32 were admitted for PhD studies.
The ceremony, held virtually and at NOUN study centres nationwide, featured the administration of the matriculation oath by NOUN Registrar, Mr. Oladipo Ajayi.
The Vice-Chancellor urged the students to embrace excellence, stating, “NOUN is not just about completing a degree; it’s about transforming lives through education.”
This milestone reaffirms NOUN’s leadership in ODL in West Africa, boasting the highest enrollment numbers in the region.
