NECO EXTENDS 2026 BECE REGISTRATION DEADLINE
The National Examinations Council has extended the 2026 BECE registration deadline to April 4, 2026, to accommodate more schools.
Legitdan news report that the National Examinations Council has approved an extension of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination registration period.
According to an internal memo dated April 1, 2026, the new deadline for normal registration is now 12 midnight on Saturday, April 4, 2026. The extension was granted following concerns raised by state coordinators to allow newly accredited schools complete their registration process.
The council stated that after this deadline, a late registration fee of five thousand naira will be charged per candidate.
It further emphasized that all schools are expected to make use of this opportunity, as the final closure of the registration portal remains 11:59 pm on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, with no further extension.
