LASUED MATRICULATES OVER 5,000 STUDENTS FOR 2025/2026 SESSION
FULL NEWS:
Legitdan News reports that Lagos State University of Education LASUED on Thursday 13 November 2025 hosted its 4th Matriculation Ceremony, formally admitting more than 5,000 fresh full-time degree and diploma students for the 2025/2026 academic session. The event held at the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Hall, Oto Ijanikin campus, attracted principal officers, staff, parents, students, and other stakeholders.
Declaring the ceremony open, Vice Chancellor Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji Okuneye described the day as a defining moment in the lives of the new students. She stated that the matriculants were not just enrolling in a university but becoming part of a story unfolding in real time.
Professor Lafiaji Okuneye reaffirmed the university’s rising profile, noting that LASUED has quickly positioned itself as a competitive and innovative institution within Nigeria’s education sector. She highlighted her administration’s A.C.H.I.E.V.E agenda, which focuses on Academic Culture, Community Relations, Human Capacity Development, Infrastructural Development, Entrepreneurship, Valuable Research, and Professional Excellence. She stressed entrepreneurship as a core pillar, insisting that LASUED graduates must be known by what they can create rather than what they seek.
She cautioned students to uphold discipline, avoid indecent dressing, shun negative peer influence, and refrain from sharing misinformation that could derail their academic progress. She also encouraged them to leverage the Nigerian Education Loan Fund NELFUND for financial support.
The Vice Chancellor further announced some of the institution’s expanding international collaborations, including partnerships with Penn State University in the United States, the University of Education in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and the African Historical Society AHS.
Assuring the new intakes of a stable academic calendar and a conducive learning environment, Professor Lafiaji Okuneye maintained that LASUED operates a firm zero-tolerance stance against all forms of misconduct. The event also featured the commissioning of new digital gadgets by the Vice Chancellor before the ceremony ended with closing remarks.
