NUC Grants Full Accreditation to 43 Programs at Federal University Kashere

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to 43 academic programmes at the Federal University Kashere (FUK) in Gombe State. This approval follows the October/November 2023 accreditation exercise, as announced by NUC’s spokesperson, Janet Ezekiel, in a statement on Friday.

The accreditation was detailed in a letter addressed to the university’s vice-chancellor, Umaru Pate, with reference number NUC/ES/412/VOL.14/327. The letter outlined the results of the October/November 2023 accreditation of academic programmes in Nigerian universities, in accordance with section 10 (1) of the Education (National Minimum Standard and Establishment of Institutions) Act CAP E3, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.

Ezekiel stated that the accreditation exercise covered both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Of the 43 programmes presented, four postgraduate and 32 undergraduate programmes received full accreditation, while seven undergraduate programmes received interim accreditation.

Programmes with full accreditation will remain valid for five years before requiring re-accreditation, while those with interim accreditation will need re-accreditation after two years.

In total, 98 academic programmes at FUK received accreditation, including 49 postgraduate and 42 undergraduate programmes with full accreditation, and seven undergraduate programmes with interim accreditation.

Vice-Chancellor Umaru Pate expressed his satisfaction with the accreditation results, describing them as a collective achievement. He emphasized the university’s commitment to maintaining high standards and transforming FUK into a premier institution of learning, seeking continued support from the staff.
