NO GOING BACK ON CBT FOR WAEC & NECO BY 2026 – FG SPEAKS AFTER MASSIVE UTME FAILURE
Legitdan News reports that the Federal Government has confirmed that WAEC and NECO exams will go fully CBT (Computer-Based Test) by 2026, despite the recent mass failure in the 2025 UTME.
Speaking on Channels TV, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, said the poor UTME results are actually proof that anti-exam malpractice strategies are working.
He said:
“Over 1.5 million out of 1.95 million candidates scored below 200 because cheating has now been blocked with CBT. This is how exams should be.”
He added that JAMB’s success with CBT is exactly why WAEC and NECO must also switch to computer-based exams.
The FG says there’s no turning back—WAEC and NECO must go CBT by 2026.
