JAMB APPROVES UTME FOR EXCEPTIONALLY BRILLIANT CANDIDATES UNDER 16
Legitdan News reports that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a new policy allowing exceptionally brilliant candidates below 16 years of age to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
To qualify, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Score at least 80% in their O’Level examinations
- Score 80% in the UTME
- Score 80% in the Post-UTME (if the institution conducts one)
Additionally, underage candidates must fill out an indemnity form at the point of registration, ensuring that they meet the necessary academic and administrative requirements.
JAMB stated that this policy is designed to accommodate young prodigies who have demonstrated exceptional academic abilities, giving them the opportunity to gain admission into tertiary institutions despite not meeting the usual age requirement
