FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE ABEOKUTA GETS FULL ACCREDITATION FOR ALL PROGRAMMES BY NUC
Legitdan News reports that the National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to all academic programmes presented by the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), during the October/November 2024 accreditation exercise.
In a letter dated 30th April 2025 and addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, the NUC confirmed that all 22 programmes across Agriculture, Computing, Engineering, Sciences, and Veterinary Medicine earned Full Accreditation Status. The NUC emphasized that the accreditation status is valid for five years.
The breakdown of the accredited programmes includes:
Faculty of Agriculture
• Agricultural Administration
• Agriculture
• Agricultural and Fisheries Management
• Forestry and Wildlife Management
• Nutrition and Dietetics
• Water Resources Management and Agro-Meteorology
Faculty of Computing
• Computer Science
Faculty of Engineering
• Agricultural Engineering
• Civil Engineering
• Electrical and Electronics Engineering
• Food Science and Technology
• Mechanical Engineering
Faculty of Sciences
• Chemistry
• Environmental Management and Toxicology
• Mathematics
• Physics
• Statistics
• Geology
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
• Veterinary Medicine
The NUC reminded institutions of the implications of various accreditation statuses. Programmes with full accreditation are valid for five years, while those with interim accreditation must be revisited after two years. Any programme that fails to secure full status after two interim cycles will face a denial of accreditation, which includes an immediate ban on new admissions and non-recognition of certificates.
Students currently enrolled in any programme with denied accreditation are not affected, but fresh admissions will be invalid, and such students will not be eligible for the NYSC scheme.
This result reflects FUNAAB’s commitment to academic excellence and quality assurance in higher education.
