AKSU STUDENTS PRESS CLUB SUMMONS BLOGGERS OVER USE OF UNIVERSITY NAME
The Students Press Club of Akwa Ibom State University has called bloggers and digital media handlers using the name AKSU to a strategic meeting. The meeting will address responsible use of the institution’s identity online.
Legitdan News reports that the Students Press Club of Akwa Ibom State University has announced a mandatory strategic meeting for all bloggers and digital media handlers operating with the name AKSU.
In a statement dated February 15 2026 and signed by Godwin Koffi President of the Students Press Club, the leadership expressed concern over the increasing number of online platforms using the acronym AKSU. The statement noted that some of these platforms publish materials that are inconsistent with the university’s values and communication standards.
The club also raised concerns about content that promotes misinformation, cyber bullying and inter institutional hostility. It stated that such activities could affect the public image of the university and undermine responsible student media representation.
The meeting is scheduled to hold on Friday February 20 2026 at 11:00am. The venue will be communicated after confirmation of attendance. All concerned media handlers are required to confirm their participation on or before February 18 2026.
The statement added that failure to comply with the invitation may lead to disciplinary action, including referral to the appropriate University Disciplinary Committee.
