DICT BEGINS DISTRIBUTION OF SMART ID CARDS TO ADMITTED FULL-TIME UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS IN 2022/2023 ACADEMIC SESSION
… Students urged to activate their cards on any POS or ATM
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola OLATUNJI-BELLO, mni NPOM, in line with her promise to ensure flexible use of services via digitization, has approved the release of newly produced Smart Identification Cards to Lagos State University (LASU) students starting from the 2022/2023 academic session.
The sophisticated and stylish card serves as both an identity card and payment card, providing holders with seamless access to both academic and financial services. It also facilitates access control and authentication across LASU premises, enabling holders to perform transactions at ATMs, Point of Sale (POS) terminals, and online.
Other benefits of the card include the prevention of identity fraud/theft and critical protection of the holder’s data.
Students are urged to activate their cards on any POS or ATM to start enjoying the benefits of the Smart Lifestyle associated with the cards. A LASU Smart Card account has been opened for all holders, with account details to be shared via SMS upon activation.
Important Notes:
- Only students who have previously provided their NIN can activate their cards using the default PIN. Students who have not provided their NIN should visit their departments for further information.
- The LASU Smart Card account is currently a TIER 1 account but can be upgraded by providing the following items to any LOTUS bank near you or the LASU branch:
- Passport
- BVN
- Valid means of identification
- Valid address
- Utility bill
Card Activation Instructions:
- Insert your card into any bank ATM.
- Select “Change PIN.”
- Enter the default PIN.
- Choose your preferred PIN.
The Vice Chancellor encourages all students to use the cards responsibly.
