UNILAG STUDENT EARNS RECOGNITION AT AI AND AMR SYMPOSIUM

A University of Lagos student has achieved recognition at the AI and Antimicrobial Resistance Symposium 2026. His project ranked among the top submissions and earned a poster award.

Legitdan news report that a student of the Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering at University of Lagos, Okeke Johnpaul Ebubechukwu, has gained continental recognition at the Artificial Intelligence and Antimicrobial Resistance Symposium 2026.

The symposium was hosted by the African Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Data Intensive Sciences at Makerere University and brought together researchers in artificial intelligence and public health.

Okeke’s project titled AMRScan ranked among the top seven percent of over 600 submissions presented at the event.

He also secured second place in the Best Poster Presentation category, highlighting the university’s contribution to research in global health and emerging technologies.
