ASUU FUT MINNA DEMANDS REMOVAL OF PRO CHANCELLOR OVER CAMPUS DISPUTE

ASUU at FUT Minna has called for the removal of the Pro Chancellor over his role in the Bosso Campus ownership dispute with the Niger State governmen

Legitdan news report that the Academic Staff Union of Universities at Federal University of Technology Minna has called for the immediate removal of the institution’s Pro Chancellor, Alhaji Mohammed Kudu Santuraki.

The union accused the Pro Chancellor of siding with the Niger State Government in the ongoing dispute over the ownership of the Bosso Campus, rather than defending the interest of the university.

The dispute is based on claims by the state government that the Bosso Campus, which served as the university’s takeoff site, was leased for a period of 40 years and should revert to the state after the expiration of the agreement.

ASUU stated that the issue raises broader concerns relating to land ownership, legal interpretation, federal authority, and university autonomy in Nigeria.

The union also noted that the conflict intensified after members of the university Governing Council paid a visit to the state governor to congratulate him on his assumption of office.
