LASUED INAUGURATES POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL BOARD, SETS AGENDA FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

Legitdan News reports that the management of Lagos State University of Education has officially inaugurated its Postgraduate School Board, marking a major step in the institution’s drive toward advanced scholarship and academic growth.

The inauguration ceremony was held on Thursday February 5, 2026, at the Multimedia Complex within the Vice Chancellor’s Office. The event highlighted the university’s strategic focus on strengthening postgraduate education and research development.

Legitdan News reports that the Vice Chancellor, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji Okuneye, described the establishment of the Postgraduate School as a foundation for quality research output, advanced scholarship, and improved academic standing. She stated that the Postgraduate College will play a key role in positioning LASUED for global academic relevance.

The Vice Chancellor charged the Provost and Board members to see their appointments as a call to service, urging them to uphold integrity, professionalism, and strong academic standards. She stressed the need for effective governance aligned with the university’s vision and mission.

Legitdan News reports that the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, Professor M. A. Daodu, emphasized that regulation within the Postgraduate College is a shared responsibility. He stated that the College must remain purely academic, free from political influence, and guided by clear academic principles. He also encouraged inclusive leadership and open exchange of ideas.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Professor M. A. Shittu, congratulated the Provost and Board members and advised them to operate strictly within approved guidelines and institutional frameworks.

Legitdan News reports that the University Bursar, Mr. Ajose Ganiu Adeniyi, and the University Registrar, Mr. Akinfemiwa Opeoluwa, also congratulated the Board members and urged them to commit fully to the growth and smooth take off of the Postgraduate College.

In his acceptance speech, the Provost of the Postgraduate College, Professor Okedeyi Abiodun S., thanked the Vice Chancellor and management for the confidence reposed in him and the Board. He described the inauguration as a landmark step toward building a responsive postgraduate system.

Professor Okedeyi stated that the Board is made up of experienced academics and administrators who will provide sound policies, direction, and oversight. He outlined the vision of the College as a center for research, innovation, and advanced professional training, with a focus on national and global impact. He assured management of transparency, academic rigor, quality control, and timely completion of programmes.

Earlier, the Postgraduate Secretary, Mr. Folaranmi Bidemi, acknowledged the presence of university principal officers and expressed appreciation to the management for their leadership and support.
