JAMB LAUNCHES PROBE INTO UTME MASS FAILURE AMID TECHNICAL COMPLAINTS
Legitdan News reports that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially launched a thorough investigation into the alleged technical problems that may have contributed to the widespread mass failure in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The announcement came in a statement released on Monday by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor. He revealed that the Board has fast-tracked its annual system review in response to growing public outcry over this year’s poor performance statistics.
“We are particularly concerned about the unusual complaints originating from a few states within the Federation,” Dr. Benjamin stated in the release titled “RE: PUBLIC COMPLAINT REGARDING THE RELEASE OF THE 2025 UTME”.

According to him, the review will cover all three stages of the examination process—registration, examination conduct, and result release. He emphasized that JAMB always ensures candidates affected by any technical issues are rescheduled and given a fair opportunity to sit for the exam.
He further said the Board has assembled a team of industry and academic professionals to carry out the investigation. These include members of the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria, Chief External Examiners (mainly heads of tertiary institutions), experts from the Educational Assessment and Research Network in Africa, seasoned measurement experts, and Vice Chancellors from various universities.
Dr. Benjamin assured the public that if any glitches are found, remedial actions will be taken swiftly.
This move comes as reports reveal that more than 1.5 million out of the 1.9 million candidates scored below 200 marks out of 400 in the 2025 UTME, sparking serious debates about the fairness and integrity of the examination process.
