UTME 2025: Registration Details, Exam Schedule, and Guidelines Released

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), responsible for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), has unveiled the registration period and comprehensive guidelines for the 2025 admissions process.

JAMB has announced that registration for the 2025 UTME will run for six weeks, starting on Wednesday, January 15, and concluding on Wednesday, February 26.

Key Requirements for UTME 2025 Registration:

  1. National Identification Number (NIN): Applicants must obtain an 11-digit NIN from any NIMC enrolment centre or the NIMC mobile app. The NIN is mandatory for creating a JAMB profile.
  2. Profile Code: Candidates must generate a 10-digit JAMB Profile Code by sending their NIN to 55019 or 66019 via SMS.
  3. Active Phone Number: An operational phone number is necessary for receiving updates throughout the registration and examination process. It’s crucial to use the same number consistently.
  4. Email Address: A functional email address is required for accessing registration details and JAMB-related communications.
  5. Academic Credentials: Candidates must provide A’level or O’level results (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or GCE) during registration. Awaiting results are accepted, but final results must be uploaded before admission.
  6. ePIN Purchase: An ePIN costing ₦3,500 is essential for registration. It can be purchased from banks, online platforms, or USSD codes. Additional charges include ₦700 for registration, ₦1,500 for the UTME, and ₦1,500 for the optional Mock-UTME.
  7. Personal Details: Applicants must supply personal information such as name, gender, state of origin, and passport photograph, complete biometric verification, and provide a signature.

The estimated total cost of registration is ₦5,200 for candidates opting for the main UTME and ₦6,700 for those participating in the Mock-UTME.

Steps for Successful Registration:

  1. Visit the official JAMB portal at www.jamb.gov.ng and create a profile using your NIN, email, and phone number.
  2. Verify your profile using the confirmation code sent via SMS and email.
  3. Purchase the ePIN from authorized outlets, online platforms, or USSD codes.
  4. Go to a JAMB-approved CBT centre with your ePIN, NIN, O’level results, passport photograph, and required documents to complete registration.
  5. Choose your exam date and centre, undergo biometric verification, and obtain a printout of your registration slip. You will also receive a CD containing the JAMB syllabus and e-brochure.

Exam Dates and Mock Examination:

  • The Mock-UTME will be conducted on Friday, March 7, 2025, with reprinting of the mock slip starting on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
  • The main UTME will take place from April 18 to April 28, 2025, and results are expected to be released on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

The UTME serves as a gateway for secondary school graduates aspiring to gain admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across Nigeria.
