National Universities Commission Approves 10 New Degree Programs for Northwest University, Sokoto

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved ten additional degree programs for Northwest University, Sokoto, in Sokoto State. This approval follows a request from the university’s management to expand their academic offerings.

The announcement was made on Monday, May 20, 2024, in a press release signed by the Acting Executive Secretary of the NUC, Mr. Christ Mayaki. The decision was based on the findings of an assessment visit conducted by a panel of experts from the NUC, which evaluated the university’s human and material resources.

The newly approved programs are:

  1. LL.B. Law
  2. MBBS. Medicine and Surgery
  3. B.Sc. Nursing Science
  4. B.Sc. Public Health
  5. B.MLS. Medical Laboratory Science
  6. B.Sc. Environmental Health
  7. B.Sc. Pharmacology
  8. B.Sc. Mass Communication
  9. B.Sc. Information and Media Studies
  10. B.Sc. Public Relations

These programs will commence in the 2024/2025 academic session.
