NECO RELEASES 2025 SSCE EXTERNAL RESULTS AS OVER 80 PERCENT SCORE FIVE CREDITS
Legitdan News reports that the National Examinations Council has released the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination results for external candidates across Nigeria.
The announcement came on Tuesday in Minna, Niger State. The NECO Registrar and Chief Executive, Professor Dantani Wushishi, disclosed this during a press briefing at the council headquarters.
Professor Wushishi also confirmed the release in a video shared on NECO official X page. He advised candidates to check their results online using their examination registration numbers on the council website.
A total of 96,979 candidates registered for the examination across 16 subjects. This included 51,823 males and 45,156 females. Out of this number, 95,160 candidates sat for the examination.
In English Language, 93,425 candidates took the paper. Out of this figure, 73,167 candidates scored credit and above. This represents 78.32 percent.
In Mathematics, 93,330 candidates participated. A total of 85,256 candidates scored credit and above. This equals 91.35 percent.
Overall performance showed that 68,166 candidates scored five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics. This represents 71.63 percent. When English Language and Mathematics were excluded, 82,082 candidates scored five credits and above. This equals 86.26 percent.
NECO also reported cases of examination malpractice. According to Professor Wushishi, 9,016 candidates were involved in different forms of misconduct. This figure increased from the 6,160 cases recorded in 2024.
Five supervisors from the Federal Capital Territory, Kano, Adamawa and Ondo states were recommended for blacklisting due to their involvement in malpractice. Four examination centres were also recommended for de recognition. Two centres were in Niger State, while one centre each was in Yobe and Kano states.
The SSCE External examination is mainly for private candidates. It serves candidates who missed the internal school examination or those who want to improve previous results.
