LASU welcomed 14,893 new students for the 2025/2026 session and charged them to maintain discipline and focus on excellence.

 

Legitdan News reports that Lagos State University has matriculated 14,893 newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, addressed the freshers during the event held at the Ojo campus. She congratulated them for securing admission from over 70,000 applicants. She highlighted LASU’s ranking as the best in West Africa by UI Greenmetrics and the most digitally innovative university in Nigeria for 2025.

The VC assured the students of a secure and supportive learning environment, adding that the institution prioritizes welfare and safety. She reminded them of the university’s values, urging them to pursue excellence and maintain discipline. She warned against cultism, examination malpractice, indecent dressing, hooliganism and all deviant behaviour.

She emphasized LASU’s zero tolerance for sexual and gender-based violence. She referenced the Directorate of Response and Prevention of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and urged students to speak up when harassed. She encouraged the new students to stay focused and complete their programmes within four to five years.

The ceremony had top university officials, faculty members, parents and well-wishers present.
