LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT PLANS TO UPGRADE LASUCOM TO A MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

The Lagos State Government, led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is taking steps to convert the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) into a standalone medical university. This move aims to address the shortage of medical personnel and improve healthcare delivery in the state.

At a recent stakeholders’ meeting, Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Tolani Sule, emphasized the need for a medical university that can meet global standards. Despite investments in LASUCOM, the institution faces challenges due to population growth, increased student admissions, and infrastructure expansion.
