FUTMINNA EMERGES AMONG TOP 10 UNIVERSITIES IN WEST AFRICA IN 2026 THE RANKINGS

Institution ranked 9th in West Africa in latest Times Higher Education rankings

Legitdan News reports that the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), has been listed among the Top 10 universities in West Africa in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.

The ranking, as reported by Business Insider Africa, assessed 2,191 universities across 115 countries and territories globally.

According to the release, FUTMINNA is ranked 9th in West Africa and falls within the 1201–1500 bracket on the global ranking scale.

The assessment was based on major performance indicators such as teaching, research environment, research quality, industry income, and international outlook.

Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, expressed satisfaction over the university’s progress in both regional and global rankings.

He stated that the institution has recorded significant achievements, ranking 7th in Nigeria, 9th in West Africa, and 68th in Africa.

The Vice-Chancellor described the recognition as a result of the collective efforts of staff, students, alumni, and stakeholders, adding that the university remains committed to maintaining high academic standards.

He further noted that FUTMINNA is determined to build on its achievements and work towards becoming one of the top three universities in Nigeria and beyond.
