FG DECLARES PUBLIC HOLIDAYS FOR EID-UL-ADHA CELEBRATION

The Federal Government has officially declared Friday, June 6 and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to commemorate this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.

This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government, in a statement released on Monday. The Minister extended warm felicitations to all Muslim faithful in Nigeria and across the globe, urging them to reflect on the values of sacrifice, obedience, and faith as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him).

Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of using the festive period not only for celebration but also for prayers for peace, unity, and prosperity in Nigeria. He called on Muslims and all citizens to support the efforts of President Bola Tinubu’s administration in repositioning the country for progress.

“The people-oriented reforms and initiatives being implemented under the Renewed Hope Agenda are targeted at restoring Nigeria to the path of sustainable development,” the Minister stated.

He further appealed to Nigerians to support government initiatives and work together in rebuilding the nation’s image and fostering national unity.

While wishing Muslims a joyous and peaceful Eid-ul-Adha celebration, the Minister encouraged all citizens to uphold the virtues of sacrifice and patriotism for the common good of the country.

Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the most important Islamic festivals and is marked by special prayers, charity, and symbolic animal sacrifice in commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience to God’s command.
