FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, OWERRI(FUTO) JOINS ASUU NATIONWIDE STRIKE

In the wake of the nationwide strike declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), the
Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) nationwide body has joined the action with ASUU FUTO (Federal University of Technology, Owerri) yet to officially join the strike.

The strike is in reaction to the recent assault on the NLC President, Joe Ajaero, allegedly by the Nigerian police and the
Imo State government.

While the NLC and TUC have issued memos instructing their member affiliates to join the industrial action, and ASUU national echoes this call, ASUU FUTO remains in a state of silence.

Prof C.E. Orji, Dean students affairs during a conversation with FUTO Students Society of Journalists President, Nkem Augustine
this morning told him ASUU FUTO is yet to join the ongoing strike.

The Dean of Student Affairs seizes the moment to also remind Nigerian students of a consequential reality: “No school fees, no examination.” , he also advised students to make sure they do their online course registration as the semester exams are near.
