DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JAMB PROFILE CODE AND E PIN

Many candidates confuse JAMB profile code with e PIN during registration. This report explains their different roles in the JAMB process.

Legitdan news report that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board uses both profile code and e PIN during registration, but they serve different purposes.

A JAMB profile code represents a candidate’s identity in the JAMB system. It is generated when a candidate submits personal details to JAMB, usually through SMS. The profile code contains the candidate’s personal information and remains valid throughout the entire JAMB process. It is not created every year unless there is a serious issue with the record.

The JAMB e PIN is separate from the profile code. The e PIN confirms that payment has been made for JAMB registration. Without the e PIN, a candidate cannot complete registration, even if a valid profile code already exists.

The registration process requires both the profile code and the e PIN. A candidate must first create a profile code. After this, the candidate purchases an e PIN to confirm payment. Both are then used together at an accredited CBT centre to complete registration.

Neither the profile code nor the e PIN can replace the other, as each performs a different function in the registration process.
