CORPS ALLOWANCE: DG ADVOCATES FOR INCREASED WELFARE DURING VISIT TO SALARIES AND WAGES COMMISSION
Abuja, Nigeria – In a bid to secure a more robust welfare package for Corps Members, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General YD Ahmed, has made a strong appeal for the inclusion of Corps Members in the Federal Government’s implementation of the new minimum wage for public servants.
The appeal was made during a visit to the Chairman of the National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission, Mr. Ekpo Nta, at his office in Abuja. Brigadier General Ahmed expressed his gratitude to the Chairman for the Commission’s ongoing support of the NYSC, while emphasizing the need for enhanced financial empowerment for Corps Members.
Responding to the Director General’s appeal, Mr. Ekpo Nta, an ex-Corps Member who served in Kano in 1977, praised the NYSC as the largest youth program in the world. He assured that the Commission would act promptly in response to any forthcoming developments regarding Corps Members’ allowances.
Mr. Nta also advocated for the provision of post-camp accommodation for all Corps Members, highlighting the necessity of continued support for the Scheme.
This visit underscores the NYSC’s commitment to improving the welfare of its members, as it seeks to ensure that they receive adequate financial support during their service year.
