ASUU-KASU RESUMES INDEFINITE STRIKE OVER UNFULFILLED AGREEMENTS
Legitdan News reports that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Kaduna State University (KASU) branch, has officially resumed its suspended indefinite strike action effective April 24, 2025. This decision follows approval from the union’s National Executive Council (NEC) after the KASU congress requested to reinitiate the strike due to unresolved issues.
In a statement signed by Dr. Peter Adamu (Chairman) and Dr. Peter M. Waziri (Secretary), ASUU-KASU listed several grievances that led to the resumption of the strike. These include:

Payment of all withheld salaries from May to September 2022 and others.

Payment of Earned Academic Allowances (EAA) from 2016 till date.

Payment of promotion arrears and SIWES supervision allowances.

Group Life Assurance and other entitlements to deceased members.

Non-remittance of pension contributions from 2009 to 2019.

Implementation of 25% and 35% wage awards.

Restoration of university autonomy.
According to ASUU-KASU, the strike is a result of the breach of trust and failure of the Kaduna State Government to honour previously reached agreements. The union insists that until these demands are addressed, the strike will continue.
The leadership reaffirmed its commitment to the struggle with the declaration: “Aluta continua, victoria ascerta!”
