FEW CANDIDATES SCORE HIGH MARKS AS JAMB RELEASES 2025 UTME STATISTICS

Legitdan News reports that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the statistical breakdown of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results. Out of the 1,955,069 candidates who sat for the exam, only a small number scored high marks.

According to the analysis, only 4,756 candidates scored 320 and above, which is just 0.24% of the total. Another 7,658 scored between 300 and 319. In total, just 12,414 candidates scored above 300.

Most candidates scored between 160 and 199, with 983,187 candidates falling in this range. That makes up 50.29% of all candidates. Meanwhile, 488,197 candidates scored between 140 and 159, and 334,560 got scores from 200 to 249.

Very few people scored below 100, with just 2,031 candidates in that category. Only 3,820 scored between 100 and 119.

JAMB also revealed that 40,247 underage candidates were allowed to sit for the exam to show their special skills. However, only 467 of them (1.16%) scored high enough to be called “exceptional.”

Some problems were reported during the exam. A total of 97 candidates were caught cheating, while 2,157 are still being investigated for possible exam malpractice. Also, 71,701 candidates were absent.

Some students had problems with biometric verification. JAMB says those who are cleared will be given another chance to take the exam at selected centers.

The results of some special groups, including blind candidates and others in the JEOG category, are still being worked on.

JAMB will hold a press conference later this week to talk about how candidates can check their individual results
