The University of Uyo, Akwa lbom
State is set to award first-class honours degrees to 136 graduating
students.

This occasion will take place during
the institution’s combined convocation scheduled for Saturday, November 11, 2023.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Nyaudoh
Ndaeyo, while addressing journalists to highlight activities lined up for the
convocation on Monday, said the
combined convocation has a total of
14,866 graduands.

He said a total of 2,672 students will
graduate with postgraduate degrees.
11,795 with first degrees, 318 with
diplomas and 81 with certificates
He also stated that 49 will bag first
class in the 2017/2018 session, with 37 coming from the 2018/2019 session, while the 2019/2020 session has 50 first class honour degrees.

This year convocation is very unique
and significant in diverse ways. First, it
is a three in one convocation ceremony comprising 26th 27th and
28th in the series of this great University. These ceremony is the first
to be conducted since my assumption as the vice chancellor of University of Uyo “The 26th 27th and 28th combined convocation has a total of 14,866 graduands,” he said.

He also disclosed that honourary
degrees would be conferred on three
prominent Nigerians during the
convocation.

They include Mr. Vincent Enyema,
Nigeria’s Super Eagles goalkeeper; Mr
Udom Inoyo, a philanthropist and
adviser to the Inoyo Toro Foundation;
and Senator Daisy Theophilu Danjuma.

The vice chancellor, who listed some
of the challenges facing the university,
including inadequate funding, encroachment on university land, and
a shortage of manpower in critical
fields of study, also said that the
institution has recorded successes,
especially in the area of accreditation.
